This thought-provoking roundtable literally has the potential to save lives…
The Empty Minute campaign was inspired by the tragic death of a young woman in a supermarket.
In the aftermath of the incident, the Coroner issued a Prevention of Future Deaths report to the retailer, its security provider, the security officer involved, and the Security Industry Authority (SIA).
For Ian Fox, the circumstances surrounding the case highlighted a critical issue: what happens in the moments before an incident can have life-changing consequences for everyone involved.
Drawing on his firsthand experience in retail management and extensive knowledge of the out-of-home leisure sector, particularly in the areas of training, safety and security, Ian became convinced that change was needed.
The result was the Empty Minute campaign.
Since its launch, the campaign has gained significant momentum and attracted support from a growing number of organisations whose employees work in public-facing environments every day.
As Co-Founder of Safer Spaces For All and creator of the Empty Minute campaign, Ian will set the scene for what promises to be a powerful and engaging discussion. More importantly, he wants to hear from you.
Have you ever experienced an “Empty Minute” moment? A situation where a decision, intervention, or missed opportunity changed the course of events?
This roundtable provides a safe space to share experiences, exchange ideas and explore how we can better prepare people to recognise vulnerability, respond appropriately and potentially prevent harm.
Because this isn’t just a conversation about safety and security. It’s a conversation about responsibility, awareness and the reality that when something goes wrong, the person who lives with the consequences afterwards could be a colleague, a customer, or even you.
If you’re attending Retail Risk – London on 18th June, make sure this session is firmly in your diary. The insights and experiences shared could help shape future responses to critical incidents and potentially make a difference not only to your organisation, but to the lives of your colleagues, customers and the wider public.
