Flying high… and still feeling the fall

Guest article by Frazer Clark

It’s been a week of progress in every direction…

It’s been a really good week.

The kind where things click into place, and you can feel momentum building again.

One of the standout moments was a live drone demonstration and panel at Retail Risk – On The Move.

Not just a standard demo either… we had a drone flying in Milton Keynes, controlled by a pilot sitting up in Gateshead, with a live feed being viewed by an audience in Coventry.

All running off local 5G connectivity.

It sounds complicated because it is, but when it works – and it did – it’s a proper showcase of what the technology is capable of.

Those are the moments where you see the bigger picture. It’s not just about getting drones into the air anymore… it’s about how seamlessly they can integrate, how far they can reach, and how effectively they can support real-world operations from anywhere.

Alongside that, the Experience Centre is really starting to take shape. We’re now looking at a go-live in May, which is exciting. It’ll be the first time we can properly bring everything together in one place and show customers exactly what we do from an end-to-end perspective.

Personally, I’m now about three and a half weeks on from breaking my ribs. Still not quite there, still the odd reminder when I move the wrong way… but definitely heading in the right direction.

I’ve managed to get back into the gym a couple of times for some upright cycling – nothing too ambitious, but it’s a start.

The bigger win is that I’ve managed to come off the codeine, which feels like a turning point in itself. The goal now is to get back to lifting properly and, more importantly, back out on a real bike sooner rather than later.

In true British fashion, the weather’s also been doing its thing. We’ve had every season in the space of a few days, which culminated in losing a tree in the back garden. That now needs to be returned to the neighbour at some point… a job for when I’m slightly more physically capable.

Outside of that, I’ve been dog-sitting a cockapoo for a couple of days. Which is always good fun. So all in all, a good week.

There’s been progress on the tech, progress on recovery, and just enough chaos in between to keep things interesting.

It feels like everything’s moving in the right direction.

Trouble in Torquay!

Not your average Easter weekend… I thought my days of family road trips were over. Turns out I was wrong. Over the...
