Chris McDonald – Senior Vice President of Loss Prevention, Compass Group, NAD

Compass Group is the world leader in commercial food and hospitality services. With over 10,000 accounts and $24B in annual sales Chris oversees multiple aspects of all loss prevention efforts within the company. Previous to Compass, h oversaw loss prevention efforts at companies such as Dollar General, Toys R’ Us, and Babies R’ Us, as well as being a part of LP teams at Office Depot and Hartmarx Retail group. With over 20 years in the industry, he serves on the Editorial Board for Loss Prevention Magazine, as well as holding a seat on the board of the International Association of Interviews (IAI). He is a published author and has numerous other industry affiliations all focused on driving education and professional standards within the loss prevention industry.

Skip’s experience spans over 30 years across law enforcement, fraud investigations, retail loss prevention, crime prevention, emergency preparedness, EAS security, e-commerce risk strategy and on-line fraud prevention. Skip is focused on building strategic partnerships and developing loss prevention, e-commerce fraud and risk programs. He has successfully led teams to investigate complex cases and reduced inventory shrink and charge-backs related to card-not-present fraud while prosecuting offenders, and increasing on-line revenue. Skip is actively involved with industry events as a speaker and contributor to articles covering a range of topics that include, “How to Ruin a Bad Guy’s Day.”

At Five Below Gregg is responsible for the AP function in a rapidly growing specialty retailer overseeing more than 550 stores nationwide. Prior to joining Five Below in October of 2014, he served as the Senior Director of Loss Prevention at The Children’s Place and before that was the Sr. Director of Loss Prevention and Retail Operations for Donna Karan New York/DKNY. With more than 20 years of Loss Prevention, Safety and Retail Operations experience and has held executive positions with several best-in-class retailers such as Bloomingdales, The Home Depot and JCPenney. A member of the NRF Advisory Counsel, Gregg also serves on the NRF Protect Content Planning Committee. He is also a Charter Member of Loss Prevention Foundation and served on the Foundations LPC Examination Committee. He is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminology Pre-Law. Gregg has been a CFI since 2005.

Shane Sturman, CPP, CFI® – Senior Partner and President/CEO, Wicklander-Zulawski & Associates, Inc.

Shane started with WZ in 1994 as a seminar speaker and Co-Director of Investigations.  Shane was named Vice President of Operations in 2001 and then President of the firm in 2006. Later, in 2008, he was designated as CEO.

Shane is an internationally recognized speaker on interview and interrogation techniques and has presented thousands of seminars on the topic to federal agencies, law enforcement and the private sector. He has been asked to speak at numerous national and international conferences including the National Retail Federation (NRF), American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS), Food Market Institute (FMI), Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) and Eye for Retail – Europe, among others.  As an investigator, Shane has personally conducted thousands of interviews and interrogations for both private and public agencies.

Shane started his career with Target Stores in Southern California as a store detective. With over 22 years of experience in loss prevention, he has held many positions including Director of Loss Prevention for Price Savers Membership Warehouse.

Shane received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. Shane is also a member of the American Society for Industrial Security, a member of the ASIS Retail Council, a Certified Protection Professional (CPP), a Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI), a member of the Center for Interview Standards & Assessment (CISA) Advisory Council and a member of The Loss Prevention Foundation.

Shane is a Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI®).  To qualify for this distinction, a person must pass a standardized examination, which covers a series of topics regarding the interviewing and interrogation process.  The CFI® demonstrates understanding of legal aspects of interviewing and proficiency in interview preparation, behavioral, analysis, accusatory and non-accusatory interviewing, documentation, and presentation of findings.  The objective of this certification program is to create comprehensive, universally accepted professional standards combined with an objective measure of an interviewer’s knowledge of those standards.

Chad McIntosh – Vice President of Asset Protection and Risk Management, Bloomingdales

Chad is an accomplished Asset Protection executive with over 35 years of experience as a strategic partner with corporate leadership. He previously worked for Stores Asset Protection for Macy’s Central which operated 238 stores in 18 states. Chad has retail Asset Protection experience with various retailers that include Neiman Marcus, The Home Depot, Polo Ralph Lauren as well as Macy’s Inc. He is a graduate from the University of Maryland with a degree in Business Administration.

L. Wayne Hoover, CFI® – Senior Partner, Wicklander-Zulawski & Associates, Inc.

Wayne is Senior Partner of Wicklander-Zulawski & Associates, Inc. Gary oversees multiple aspects of all loss prevention efforts within the company. He has over 30 years in the retail industry and has held various positions including: Store management, Procurement, Analytical Services Manager, Regional Loss Prevention Manager and Regional LP Director. Gary previously managed teams in a divisional capacity with the Babies R US organization and Dollar General Corporation. Part of his career was spent in Operation’s within the Toys R Us organization which allows him to bring a very unique perspective to the loss prevention and audit world.

With extensive experience in retail operations, David is responsible for all of the company’s strategic asset protection programs and shrink reduction initiatives. With over 25 years in the industry, he has held positions with best in class retailers such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Bed Bath and Beyond and Federated Department Stores. Beginning as a store detective, David has held a variety of field and corporate positions that have provided him the opportunity to direct activities in the US and internationally. David is a former chair of the RILA Asset Protection Steering Committee and is actively involved as a member of RILA’s Asset Protection Leaders Council. He also sits on the advisory boards of the Loss Prevention Foundation, International Association of Interviewers, Loss Prevention Research Council, Loss Prevention Magazine and Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania. David received his B.S. degree from York College of Pennsylvania majoring in Industrial/Commercial Security and is currently pursuing his MBA at the University of Pittsburgh. He is a Certified Forensic Interviewer and is Loss Prevention Certified.

Visionworks is a leading provider of eye care services with more than 750 optical retail stores in 42 states and the District of Columbia. While at Visionworks, Cary has led all loss prevention functions for Visionworks, Visionworks Manufacturing, and Visionworks ecommerce. His duties at Visionworks (HVHC) have also included risk management of privacy information for 20 million Davis Vision patients, and security for Viva, International. Before coming to Visionworks, Cary’s career spanned the private and public sectors, working for Cracker Barrel, Sam’s Club, and the State of Arkansas. Cary holds a seat on the board of the International Association of Interviews (IAI), is Editor of the Certified Forensic Interviewer Journal, and holds a MBA from Texas A&M San Antonio. He resides in San Antonio, Texas.

Garth Gasse – Director of Loss Prevention, SSP America

Mark Robinson – Director of Asset Protection, Victra

Mark Robinson is a Director of Asset Protection for Victra – the largest authorized retailer for Verizon.  Just two months ago he departed Toys R Us, Inc. following a 10 year tenure, most recently as the Executive Director of Asset Protection for the U.S.  Prior to that he held various store, district and regional positions in store operations and asset protection at Target Corporation for over 13 years.  Mark also served as an airborne infantry officer in the United States Army, including combat tours in Iraq, where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Kuwaiti Liberation Medal and Southwest Asia Service Medal.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University. He is a member of the California Organized Retail Crime Association (CALORCA), California Robbery Investigators Association (CRIA), and serves on the board of advisors for the Loss Prevention Research Council (LPRC)

Mark Robinson – Director of Asset Protection, Victra

Mark Robinson is a Director of Asset Protection for Victra – the largest authorized retailer for Verizon.  Just two months ago he departed Toys R Us, Inc. following a 10 year tenure, most recently as the Executive Director of Asset Protection for the U.S.  Prior to that he held various store, district and regional positions in store operations and asset protection at Target Corporation for over 13 years.  Mark also served as an airborne infantry officer in the United States Army, including combat tours in Iraq, where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Kuwaiti Liberation Medal and Southwest Asia Service Medal.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University. He is a member of the California Organized Retail Crime Association (CALORCA), California Robbery Investigators Association (CRIA), and serves on the board of advisors for the Loss Prevention Research Council (LPRC)

Susan Baker – Vice President Asset Protection, EZCORP

With more than 30 years’ experience as loss prevention professional, Susan has bridged all levels of management and leadership progressing from LP Analyst to Vice President of Asset Protection and Risk Management functions. Over her career, she has developed asset protection strategies with a store operational effectiveness vision, supporting AP and Operations partnerships that consistently achieved an appropriate balance of risks versus financial benefits. As Vice President Asset Protection at EZCORP, Susan currently leads AP functions for more than 1000 financial services locations in US, Canada, and Latin America. Previously, she was Senior Director of Loss Prevention at Dollar General and Vice President LP at Blockbuster. She holds a B.A. degree from Sam Houston State University and completed a Graduate Assistantship at Southern Illinois University.
