Damien Barne

Damien has over 20 years of Loss Prevention experience within the retail and hospitality sectors. Starting his career with Sainsburys and Homebase he has undertaken many roles from compliance, security and investigations manager to logistics and supply chain. Damien moved from traditional retail into the world of hospitality 13 years ago where he is now Head of Profit Protection for Compass Group. Damien has aligned the team to the ever changing demands of the industry and believes to be effective a true business partnering and collaboration ethos is required along with keeping it simple for the front line teams.

Andy has worked in the fraud industry for the past seventeen years and has significant experience in leading the investigation and prevention of internal and external crime within the financial, insurance, telecommunication and retail sectors.

He has implemented new fraud strategies within financial organisations across multiple delivery channels for both cash and credit, leading to considerable cost savings.

He is a regular speaker at industry events and a member of the editorial board of Loss Prevention Magazine in the UK. His team have won the Online Profit Protection team of the year for the last two years.

Gerry Golden

Head of Operational Controls UK & Ireland


Gerry has been with SSP for 26 years , starting in Operations at Eurotunnel working his way up through the Regional Loss Prevention Departments to his current role as Head of Operational Controls UK & Ireland.
He has a passion for sports and played football until he was 58! Can now be seen smashing balls out of bunkers on the golf course.

He loves spending time with his Granddaughter Macie and her smile can make all the days pressure whittle away

Victoria Crorken

Head of Risk


Victoria is the Head of Risk for Compliance and Security for the Co-op Group Ltd, with responsibility for leading the governance and oversight of their Crime and Security, Regulatory Compliance and Business Resilience strategies.

She has spent the majority of her career in policing where she led teams to develop collaborative partnerships with external partners and agencies to resolve long term community problems. In 2017 she was seconded from Lancashire Constabulary to the Co-op Group where she supported the introduction of the Co-op’s Safer Colleagues, Safer Communities campaign which aims to tackle violence and abuse towards retail workers and left the Police in 2018 to continue her career with the Co-op.

Victoria holds a Masters in Business Administration and is the vice chair of the local governing board for an inner city Co-op academy.

Robert Mcassey

Head of Loss Prevention

Rob started his career in security over 20 years ago with Debenhams, increasing his knowledge in the field of physical and digital security through both regional and global positions, specializing in Loss prevention and Crisis Management. Robs career has allowed him to develop these skills through the value chain, from Procurement, Manufacture, transportation, Distribution, bricks and mortar and digital in various roles within Adidas and Nike and currently with a Global luxury retailer based in Geneva, which allows him to expand his experience into a cooperate security role.
Rob and his family have a house based in the south west of France and his job allows him to combine his base of Geneva, global travel and family time with his wife and 3 children.

John Mantle

National Loss Prevention Manager

American Golf

John has worked in the retail industry for over 30 years across a number of retailers. He is a specialist in Operations having held a number of posts leading to a career in Loss Prevention. His previous roles have existed in Wilko, The Link and Allied Carpets. At American Golf he led his LP Team to the inaugural LP Team of the Year at the Fraud Awards.

Having worked in American Golf for 11 years he sees strong operations as the best tool in the toolbox to ensure a successful Loss Prevention result. He believes problem solving is the key to tackling issues and bringing them under control.

Security & Incident Manager


With a background in incident and risk management I came to Boots UK 12 years ago, and have spent the last five of those leading and developing the security agenda for Boots UK.  With almost 2,400 health and beauty stores, most of which include a pharmacy, our team are at the heart of local communities across the UK.   The Security team look after everything security related from strategy, policy, operational deployment, enforcement and external lobbying on behalf of our team members in stores, pharmacy, supply chain and support office.

Philip Clarke

Retail Analytics & Reporting Manager


With nearly 20 years data analytics experience across the public services, aviation industry and retail, Phil has specialised in Policing, Profit Protection and Loss Prevention for the past 14 and after developing the loss prevention function in Primark focusing on till fraud, he now leads the retail analytics and reporting section for Primark, which includes amongst other areas profit protection, fraud and stock loss reduction.  A believer in following a data driven approach he has been successful in reducing costs, focusing resources where the greatest ROI is possible and implementing loss reduction in a targeted approach, which includes the creation of the Primark Stock Loss Reduction Program.

Chris Mobbs

District Loss Prevention & Risk Operations Manager


Chris is currently the Loss Prevention Manager for Nike Direct in the UK and Ireland. He has over 20 years of experience in the field of Loss Prevention, corporate and retail security. An experienced professional, who has managed small, medium, and large teams delivering profit protection and shrinkage reduction in a variety of settings. He is passionate about internal investigations and have also a flare for analytics. When not at work Chris enjoys spending time with his family and enjoys the gym.
