Colin Culleton – Group Loss Prevention Manager, Next

38 years security, loss prevention and risk management experience. Career success built on ensuring loss prevention policies and procedures are sales enhancing.

Builds stakeholder partnerships and achieves integration with key business functions. Passionate about the benefits of collaboration with other businesses, law enforcement and business crime reduction partnerships. Pioneered a radical, selective arrest policy designed to improve the safety of retail staff, a model that is now used extensively on the high street. A Director of the National Business Crime Solution, member of the National Retail Crime Steering Group and the Home Office Violence Reduction Group.

He is the proud former recipient of the LP Director of the Year, 2015.

Martin Gregg – Head of loss prevention, Peacocks

Martin Gregg is a retailer with more than 20 years’ experience, having held a variety of Loss Prevention positions in a number of retail sectors. He is currently the Head of Loss Prevention for Peacocks Stores Limited. Peacocks is a value fashion brand, trading in over 500 locations across the United Kingdom and Republic Of Ireland. Managing a team of six loss prevention professionals, he is responsible for profit protection, stock integrity, safety, security and store operations. His role provides opportunities to explore new ideas and technology, as well as exploring a broader and more holistic approach to loss prevention.  Martin and his team were proud to be nominated for Retail Risk LP Team of the Year in 2015. Martin takes an active role in the loss prevention industry. He chaired the National Business Crime Solution (NBCS) Operations Steering Group, and remains an active supporter of this initiative. Collaboration is crucial to success, and Martin has been a member and co-Chair of the Oris Loss Prevention Fashion Forum for many years. A previous speaker at Retail Fraud and Retail Risk, it is with pleasure and anticipation that Martin has accepted the invitation to be a judge at Retail Risk 2018.

Gary Moncur – Director of Loss Prevention, Compass USA

With over 10,000 accounts and $24B in annual sales, Gary Moncur oversees multiple aspects of all loss prevention efforts within the company. Gary has over 30 years in the retail industry and has held various positions including: Store management, Procurement, Analytical Services Manager, Regional Loss Prevention Manager and Regional LP Director. Gary previously managed teams in a divisional capacity with the Babies “R US organization and Dollar General Corporation. Part of his career was spent in Operation’s within the Toys R’ Us organization which allows him to bring a very unique perspective to the loss prevention and audit world.

Ian Pugh – Group Head of Security, Intu

As Group Head of Security for intu I am responsible for the security strategy across our UK shopping centre portfolio and also our centres and new developments in Spain. My role reports into the Group and my primary responsibility is to ensure that we have comprehensive security procedures aligned to our security strategy with technology solutions delivering innovative ways of working to best protect our centres. I am also responsible for the security training strategy and for external relationships with the Police and Intelligence services. We receive over 400 million customer visits per year to our 15 directly owned centres in the UK and our 3-joint venture owned centres at St David’s Cardiff, Cribbs Causeway and Manchester Arndale. I sit on the REVO Security and Safer Shopping Committee (Formerly British Council of Shopping Centres) and also on the European Security Group for the International Council of Shopping Centres. I am a member of the Crowded Places Information Exchange group chaired by the National Counter Terrorism Security Office ( NaCTSO) bringing together key crowded places partners to share best practice. Intu are members of the National Business Crime Solutions. (NBCS) is a ‘Not for Profit’ Initiative that provides a collaborative solution to more effectively tackle cross border, serious and organised crime affecting business.It is supported by the Home Office and links into the National Business Crime Centre.

Annette Hearn – Head of Retail Audit, Superdrug

Annette lives in the beautiful county of Somerset with her husband and 22 year old son. She has been working within Retail Audit for over 20 years and has been in her current role at Superdrug for over 11 years.  Leading a team of 15 whose audit remit covers retail stores, pharmacies, Distribution and Superdrug’s multi-channel operations. She believes there is a real synergy between the role of audit and loss prevention in any retail organization and together they are real force to be reckoned with in tackling and driving out business risk and losses.

Peter Page – Group Loss Prevention Manager at a leading GCC conglomerate

Peter Page draws on a decade of experience in senior Risk roles within leading retailers in the GCC and Middle East. He paints a vivid picture of the challenges and successes he has seen while working in the region. He will consider what are the differences and similarities with the UK and Europe and what we can learn overall, before closing by addressing any questions.

Bruce Duncan – Head of Business Risk, Matalan

Qualifying as a chartered accountant at the start of the millennium, he gained professional service experience within the Deloitte LLP Corporate Finance team, learning the trade as a junior and then managing private equity merger and acquisition deals between £5m and £100m.  He then joined Greggs plc, the national food on the go retailer, in 2005 working within the Head Office Finance team before moving to the Yorkshire division as the Financial Controller.  Following business restructuring in 2010, he changed career paths by taking up the challenge of forming and leading a Loss Prevention team with the aim of identifying and mitigating risk and identifying cost efficiency opportunities as part of the overall business strategy in tough economic times. After building an expert team of five which created added value through a coordinated fraud and security strategy, migration of manual to automated processes and the creation of a business wide loss prevention culture, he moved to Morrisons to lead the Loss Prevention risk and operating model and online business areas.  He recently moved back to value retailing by joining Matalan in December 2017 as Head of Business Risk, incorporating Loss Prevention, Health and Safety, Information Security, Insurance, Compliance and Audit.  The principles of compliance are transferrable across functions and business sectors, so he’s enjoying applying and gaining greater experience in a dynamic retail business and retail sector, whilst learning about the world of fashion.

Lee Ablett – Profit Protection Manager, Pizza Hut

Lee has worked with Pizza Hut Restaurants for the last 12 years, and has also completed stints in Game and Phones4U throughout his working history.  The last 9 years have been in the Profit Protection role and now heads up the Profit Protection team, driving the tangible alliance with the Operations teams and “Heart With Smart” (think Pizza Hut Audit) teams.

His personal strategy is simple, collaborate and engage with those who can help you make a difference.  His values include being Authentic and Achieving, Transforming and Developing.

The Profit Protection team have 3 foundation elements, to Protect, Educate and Support the teams and the business, which enables the team to drive results through everything they do.  He is an absolute advocate of positive engagement and uses this to drive Profit Protection messages into the heart of the restaurants.

Chance Bowlin – Director of Loss Prevention, Petco

Chance Bowlin is the Director of Loss Prevention for Petco Holdings which encompasses over 1500 Petco, Unleashed by Petco locations in the US, Mexico, and Puerto Rico; prescription services and pet supplies from the leading veterinary-operated pet product supplier, Drs. Foster & Smith; digitally-delivered pet health advice through PetCoach; and petco.com. He joined Petco in 2011 and during his time at Petco he has led the Loss Prevention organization and the ground up development of Petco’s E-Commerce fraud control team and tools that span 4 internet brands. Before joining Petco Chance held numerous Loss Prevention positions in companies such as Target, Sports Authority, Gander Mountain, Babies R Us, and Dollar General. Chance is a Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI), and has earned the Loss Prevention Foundations Loss Prevention Certified (LPC) Certification.

 

Mark Crowley – Head of Profit Protection, John Lewis

Mark is responsible for the end to end Profit Protection function in John Lewis who adopt a ‘Total Loss’ approach to Shrinkage. This makes him the leadership member responsible for reducing malicious and non-malicious Shrinkage, whether card fraud, cashloss, missing stock or wastage for the whole of John Lewis. Prior to joining the Partnership, Mark worked in a variety of retailers; most recently in a Global Senior Manager role at Burberry but also at Gap and Arcadia.

Gordon McLardy – Head of PP, Arcadia Group

Gordon has over 38 years security, loss prevention/profit protection and risk management experience working for many of the well-known Brands (past and present), such as; Argos, New Look, Great Universal Stores, Matalan and most recently Arcadia Group. Gordon also worked in Australia for the Woolworths Group as Head of Profit Protection.

Gordon believes that great leadership is the secret to success and that empowered teams will always deliver the best results. Gordon is currently employed as the Group Head of Loss Prevention for Arcadia, with over 2,000 stores across the UK, Europe and the USA.
