Over his career, Marco has worked in some of the UK’s largest retailers, across multiple retail sectors, to understand and mitigate loss.
Brett Elliot
Head of Loss Prevention for Warehouse & Distribution
Next
Brett joined Next in June 2019 as Head of Loss Prevention for Warehouse & Distribution, he heads up a team of Loss Prevention Managers and Officers that look after the 15 Next sites around the country. Next invests in its Loss Prevention team and it has grown from 165 heads in 2019 to 182 heads to current date.
Prior to working for Next he worked for Walmart for 5 years and worked in the International Asset Protection team working with all the International markets on Warehouse, Retail & Online Risk & Loss, he was promoted to a Senior Manager in Walmart after 14 years working in ASDA where he held roles in Retail & Warehouse Loss Prevention.
Ashley Brooks
Head of UK Security Operations
Tesco
Ashley Brooks is Head of UK Security Operations at Tesco. Relatively new to the industry, Ashley started this role in November, previously having 12 years of store management experience which included store and area positions. His role covers all areas of security in retail including Tesco stores, One Stop, distribution, fulfilment and communications. Ashley lives near Cheltenham with his wife Tash and 2 children, Layla and Charlie.
Jiten Lad
Senior People & Profit Protection Manager

Jiten’s career spans across Food Retail, DIY and Merchanting for over 20 years. Jiten has worked for some big brands, including, Somerfield, M&S Simply Food and Homebase. He has a degree in Biological sciences and lives in the Midlands with his wife and two daughters.
Jiten has honed his commercial experience as a Store Manager, Multisite Manager, Regional Manager and as a project manager opening new stores. In 2016, he left store operations whilst at Homebase and was promoted to Regional Loss Prevention Manager, before moving into a divisional LP role covering the North during the Homebase Turnaround.
More recently, Jiten spent two and a half years looking after Security and LP for the specialist brands at Travis Perkins Group. TP is the UK’s largest distributor of building materials. In the FTSE 250, it has over 29,000 colleagues working across 2,000 sites for over 20 brands.
Jiten has recently been appointed to head up the LP function at Central England coop. He says:
“I feel like I have gone full circle, as I am back in food retail where it all started! I am passionate about supporting our store teams and ensuring that they, and our customers, have a safe environment to work and shop in!”
Alan Cotton

Alan is a former detective with Police Scotland who has since embellished his CV with a plethora of public and private sector experience across retail risk and security. He has previously worked in the Middle East but is now with Ikea as their UK Security and Loss Prevention manager. A keen football, music and travel fan although these are very closely followed by his penchant for a fine wine.

Growth-focused thought leader with a multifaceted achievement record in key leadership roles and expertise.
A career over 30 years in retail, covering various roles from IT services manager, Customer services manager, Supply Chain & Distribution and more recently Head of Profit Protection & Operational Excellence for Homebase.
Jitty is passionate about customer service ensuring colleague safety and security in the workplace is paramount; delivering this through up-skilling, simplifying process, embedding change and effective education with our retail teams.
Jitty will be looking at risk-based approaches to security strategy and operational excellence as a judge.
Rachel Willox
Corporate protection and security manager
Morrisons
Rachel joined the Morrisons Corporate Protection team in November 2022 as a Corporate Investigations and Security Manager; with responsibility for high value corporate risk investigations, security of the estate and serious incident management / reduction.
Prior to this she had a long period working in law enforcement in a number of roles, most recently moving from the National Crime Agency where she left as a Senior Investigator with investigation and intelligence accreditations.
Rachel has had a passion for risk management and security since completing her MSc in Defence and Security at the Defence Academy of the UK in 2014. She now leads a number of different strategies to reduce risk and harm to Morrisons colleagues and critical business infrastructure.
Nicki Juniper
Head of Security & Shrinkage

Nicki started her career as an auditor for PwC before moving to the John Lewis Partnership in 2015. Initially her JLP career began in the finance team supporting distribution projects which, combined with her audit background, became a great foundation for understanding the inner workings and risks within the organisation, particularly in relation to stock.
Having taken up a number of opportunities which came her way, Nicki found her way into the world of loss prevention in 2017 and has never looked back.
Currently the Head of Security and Shrinkage, Nicki is accountable for 3 Partnership risks – Partner Safety, Fraud and Shrinkage – across both Waitrose & John Lewis and all of the non-retail estate including build to rent and financial services. She leads a team of 250 Partners who are supported by other critical suppliers to deliver a data led response to risk.
Nicki is passionate about collaboration across the industry to make Retail a safer place to work.
