And the winner is…

The Fraud Awards 2020, sponsored by WIS International, finally took place on the 22nd July 2021

In an evening full of drama and surprises, industry leaders got together in the hundreds to recognise outstanding achievements in risk management since before the pandemic.

The Awards were brilliantly compered by TV comedian Stephen Grant, who helped to make the evening truly outstanding.

The Fraud Awards 2021 – sponsored by WIS international – takes place at Kind Power Stadium in Leicester on the 2nd December 2021. It promises to be a great way to run up to Christmas…

BEST NEWCOMER

This award recognises the most exciting new business or solution to enter the retail risk and loss prevention arena, supplying any part of the risk and loss prevention industry. To qualify the solution or business must have launched within the last two years.

RISING STAR AWARD

The judges are looking to recognise the success of an outstanding individual who has made a positive contribution to the bottom line performance and overall loss prevention landscape within their place of work. the winner does not necessarily work full-time in profit protection. They might be from another discipline, but “really get” risk and as such has made a significant difference – either financially or culturally – within their place of work.

It’s not just about CCTV! there are many ways that a retailer can utilise camera or surveillance technology, to bring benefit to not only the Profit Protection department, but also the wider business.

Here judges are looking for an innovative product, solution or service that has a risk and loss prevention benefit, but that sits outside of the Profit Protection department – for example people counting and hot spotting that has increased sales and reduced shrink.

at one end of the spectrum we have Crime Partnerships, through to Commercial data sharing Partnerships and even Partnerships with local Police forces. at the other, a few neighbourhood retailers working together to combat crime. What the judges are looking for here is real, tangible business benefits resulting from genuine collaboration along with a clear ROI.

MOST INNOVATIVE ONLINE/ SUPPLY CHAIN SOLUTION

Here judges are looking for innovative products, solutions or services that reduce shrink in either physical aspects of driver, vehicle, site security or in managing the complexities of delivery and replenishment fulfilment.

LOSS PREVENTION ONLINE/ SUPPLY CHAIN TEAM OF THE YEAR

Recognises the Profit Protection Team that undertook that difficult online technology roll-out that was delivered in This Award is for excellence in the symbiotic fields of online risk management and robust supply chain processes. It recognises the team that undertook that difficult technology roll out, or inspired the whole organisation with its approach to new challenges. It is a real pat on the back for not only spotting trends and suspicious anomalies within the fulfilment chain, but also successfully risk sizing and closing the process gaps that are causing shrink within the business.

Here judges are looking for innovative approaches to an existing, tried and tested solution or genre. the solution can either be from a vendor, an in-house retailer solution, or a guarding/security team.

This Award recognises the Profit Protection Team that undertook that difficult technology roll-out that was delivered in record time, or that enthused a whole company to “think shrink”. this award is a real ‘pat on the back’ for a whole team.

WOMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD

The purpose of this awards category is to encourage gender parity and female advancement.

The judges are looking for women working in Risk Management as retailers, vendors, law enforcement officers or academics, who have achieved their success against all odds. these female trailblazers have broken glass ceilings, worked hard to remove barriers for other women and are disrupting established industry norms through innovation.

VENDOR OF THE YEAR

The judges will be looking for a vendor who consistently goes over and above the role of ‘just’ being a supplier. the Vendor of the Year award will acknowledge those vendors who form tangible and lasting partnerships with their retail clients. Please note that the winner from the previous year will be ineligible to enter the following year. however, they will be invited to the fraud awards evening to present the award.

HALL OF FAME

Each year the judges will induct one person into the Retail Risk ‘Hall of Fame’. this person will be someone whom the judges feel has contributed above and beyond their duty to the cause of Profit Protection, Risk Management or Loss Prevention.

The judges are looking for outstanding contribution from one individual.
