An introduction from our Chair: Peter Page, MENA-based Group Loss Prevention Manager

Welcome to Retail Risk – Dubai 2016.

I am delighted to be chairing the 2016 Retail Risk Conference in Dubai. Building on the success of the previous two years, this year promises to be another great event which will bring together retailers from across the region to share best-practice across the two days.

This year, as well as an array of international speakers, there will be free training workshops to allow practitioners at all levels to meet and learn from each other and exchange ideas on some of the current topics that we all face daily.

Louis Fouché, Stock Audit Manager, T.M Lewin

Strategies – and practice – for audit excellence

Issues with accurate inventory recording are a growing problem for retailers. Administrative errors, too,  can be a major contribution to shrink. In a mainstage presentation followed by a practical training workshop Louis Fouche explains and demonstrates how he mitigates shrinkage in three basic areas: Stores, Depot/Online and Systems – putting in place short, med and long term strategies to ensure these three areas are protected and deliver results to protect one of a company’s biggest assets – stock!

In particular, he’ll be looking at:

  • How retailers can save moneyby avoiding negative stock and administrative errors
  • Fixing internal audit problems
  • How to manage the relationship with your internal auditors and communicate effectively with them

More about Louis…

Louis has 16 years’ experience in Internal Audit and Loss Prevention across a number of international multi-channel fashion retailers.

As a self-motivated, brand advocate he has developed and implemented best practice audit methodologies in collaboration with high level Finance and Operational team members. Louis conducts independent and objective evaluations of the company’s internal and operational controls, bringing a systematic and disciplined approach in order to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and conformance to security policies.

His role requires strong presentation skills, a high level of personal integrity, sound judgment, confidence and also a finely tuned cultural awareness. Retail is a people centric business and with this in mind he strongly believes in the importance of effective communication skills in order to ensure that both individuals and teams become advocates for strong control practices.
