Announcing… the launch of the North American Fraud Awards 2018…

Do you, your Asset Protection team, a colleague or vendor partner deserve special recognition for their work?

Is there a particular strategy, product or local initiative worthy of celebrating on a national stage?

Whether you can think of just one or many deserving examples, Retail Knowledge is delighted to announce the launch of the North American Fraud Awards; an industry event created specifically to celebrate the best of the Asset Protection industry…

The North American Fraud Awards are based upon an established and very successful format in the UK.

Every year some 500 guests attend the UK Fraud Awards to acknowledge and celebrate the very best individual and team performances, innovative products, winning strategies and to crown the “Asset Protection Director of The Year.” The Fraud Awards Gala Dinner Evening has become firmly established as the “Oscars” of the Asset Protection industry in Europe.

Senior US Asset Protection executives attending the UK Awards were so impressed that they suggested we should offer a similar evening on the other side of “the Pond”; to celebrate excellence in the industry. And so… we are!

Which categories will you enter?

The North American Fraud Awards takes place on the evening of May 17, 2018, following this year’s Retail Risk – Dallas conference, which is being held earlier on the same day and in the same venue.

There are ten Awards categories to enter. In eight of the categories awards for both a Winner and a Highly Commended are up for grabs. The “Hall of Fame” and “Loss Prevention Director of the Year” have Winner’s awards only – there are no Highly Commended awards for these two categories. Split evenly between retailers and vendors, all categories are free for anyone to enter.

The Fraud Awards takes pride in the independence of our published judging panel, made up of senior loss prevention executives from leading retailers (see our judges page for details of who is judging the inaugural Awards), and the transparent and scrupulously fair judging procedures.

Free to enter

Entry is truly free and you can make as many entries in as many categories as you like. You do not have to be a member of any organisation. You can nominate yourself or anyone else you choose (with their permission, of course), and entering the Fraud Awards could not be simpler…

Nominations are made through simple written submissions explaining who you are, who you are nominating and why you think that individual, team or vendor meets the published criteria for the Award. Each entry must comply with simple rules that create a level playing field for all to compete upon, so that judges can decide on the merits of the case without being swayed by glossy brochures, hi-tech marketing or expensive videos set to rock music!

Judging is entirely a matter for the independent judging panel. There is no “old school tie” network. No political intrigue. No hidden agendas. No covert lobbying. Where judges may potentially have a conflict of interest in judging a category, they are excluded from voting in it. Awards are made solely on merit, not who you know or how long you have been in the business.

For further details about the Awards and how to enter check out the Nominations page on this site. Entries for nominations open December 1, 2017 and close February 2, 2018. Judging takes place on the week commencing February 5 and the shortlist of finalists will be published on February 15.

On the May 17 in Dallas the winners will be revealed at the Fraud Awards Gala Dinner Evening. There guests enjoy a champagne reception followed by an outstanding three course meal with champagne and fine wines before the Awards themselves get underway.

Celebrate your success at the Fraud Awards Gala Dinner

The organisers are keen, even in the first year, to put on a show with visually exciting staging and a professional emcee. The night is invariably full of drama and excitement as Awards are received, speeches made and photographs taken. After the winners have been announced there is further time to enjoy the company of fellow professionals either over a glass of wine or on the dancefloor with our live DJ playing great music until early morning hours.
